Spread thin and left to the warm air, each leaf gives up its moisture, softens, and shows the first trace of the character it will keep.

Fire remembers the hands.

Iron, charcoal and the patience of the maker. Heat fixes the leaf — the moment its character stops changing and begins to keep.

A quiet road to water.

Tea leaves the workshop by the same path that carries rain, cedar and mountain air into the valley.
