Produced in Dehua, Fujian — China’s foremost centre of white porcelain — this Mutton Fat Jade White Porcelain tea cup is distinguished by its dense ivory-white glaze and the carved Xiang Yun (auspicious cloud) relief that wraps the body. The name “mutton fat jade” refers to the translucent, jade-like quality of the glaze when held to light — a standard achieved only with the finest Dehua kaolinite clay and high-temperature firing.

The Fudiao (relief carving) technique is applied by hand before firing, giving each cup a tactile depth that flat-painted porcelain cannot replicate. Run a finger across the surface and the cloud motif rises and recedes with quiet precision. At 110 ml, the cup is sized for the measured pours of a gongfu ceremony — substantial enough to appreciate the fragrance and body of a tea, compact enough to showcase colour and clarity in high-grade oolongs, whites, and greens.

Available as a set of 2, 4, or 6 cups, making it equally suited for personal daily use or as a considered gift for a tea enthusiast.
